Paloma Castello was born in Bogotá in 1988. She studied Fine Arts at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University and holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Photography from IED Madrid, as well as a Master’s degree in Classical Studies from Universidad de los Andes. She has participated in numerous national and international group exhibitions, including Casa de América (Spain), the Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá, the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo (Japan), Artecámara Kennedy, Feria del Millón, ARTBO, Galería Otros 360 Grados, and The Art and Design Project Gallery, among others. Her work was also featured in the Fame and Fortune auction in New York, organized by Paddle8. Paloma Castello’s artistic practice draws on inherited objects, personal archives, and images from the past which, when recontextualized in the present, activate new fictions. Photography plays a central role in her work, functioning both as a documentary tool and as a space for construction and imagination. Through staged images, digital interventions, and photographic assemblages, she explores the tension between memory and fiction, using the photographic image as a site where time, intimacy, and mythology converge. In her work, the real and the imaginary coexist within the same space, where the historical, the intimate, and the tropical intertwine, creating compositions that propose new ways of narrating and inhabiting images.
